The state was preparing for a partial federal government shutdown. More than 45,000 federal employees live across the state. In the event of a shutdown, furloughed employees would be eligible for state unemployment benefits, but the state would seek reimbursement from the feds. On Monday, Gov. Robert Bentley said he was in touch with his department heads, asking for information on how a shutdown would affect state agencies. The governor said he supports delaying Obamacare, but opposes a shutdown.
